Quarter of a million children receiving mental health care in England

Depression and other mental ill-health issues are on the rise amongst the youngAccording to data from 60% of NHS mental health trusts in England, a quarter of a million children and young people are receiving mental health care.

The Guardian reports that growing numbers of children, teenagers and young adults are being afflicted by debilitating psychological and psychiatric ailments.

The worrying rise in cases of ill-health amongst the young is blamed on a number of factors, including family breakdown; the pressure to excel academically, to look good and to be popular; as well as poverty (and the negative impact this has on nutrition).
